This is How it Goes

I have been happily married for the past thirteen years. I left my job as a nurse in a doctor's office when my son was born in 2000. His little sister came along in the Fall of 2003 and the two keep me very busy.

The First Days of Summer

So far we are making it. We bought the kids a pool, but they have yet to get in it. When we filled it last week, the city was having one of their 'harmless brown tap water' days. It was really off-colored, and looked very unappealing. In the course of trying the correct the high iron content (per the pool store's instructions) we really messed up the damn thing. Had way high chlorine, very low ph, and today's new feature was cloudy water. So tonight we drained it and will start over. Hopefully the kids will finally have a chance to swim.

My brother and nephew visited this past weekend, and we had a fun day out with our boys. Dad took us all fishing on the river, and we caught a bunch of croakers. You can't eat those, but 5-year-olds don't care about that. My dad was finally getting to do what he has wanted to do since he found out he was having grandsons; get everybody out to fish. Later we pigged out at CiCi's Pizza. I am not a big pizza fan since my days in the kitchen at Domino's, but I enjoyed it on Satuday.

I survived my trip to the dentist yesterday, my least favorite place on earth to visit. I would seriously rather go to the gynecologist than the dentist. I have to go back for a minor filling next week. Made appointments for the kids this summer.

The boy did really well in Tae Kwon Do last night. The teacher had him demonstrate a couple of moves, and he seemed so focused and confident. Tonight he was showing me some kicks, and yesterday he was talking about getting his black belt. I hope we can work out the finances to keep him in it.

The Girl is finally getting old enough to let me pamper her girly-style. Yesterday I trimmed her hair while she watched Baby Einstein. Today I painted her toenails a pearly shade of carnation pink. I asked her if she wanted her toes painted, and she hopped right up on the couch and waited for me.

THEGIRL has a definite feminine flair too. She hasn't had nails painted, but in a new outfit she'll certainly come over and tell you she's pretty. And she is.

Yeah, good trip we had! Sorry the pool's been such a headache for you guys. It'll come around, and you'll get plenty of mileage out of it.

OH! And when are you going to share some of your photos from the fishing trip anyway?
